Water Conservation
Water is our most precious resource. Everyone can practice effective water conservation in their daily lives, but having highly-efficient water fixtures and appliances is a big help, too. Government facilities are doing their part by reducing the demand for water and increasing water use efficiency wherever possible. This includes replacing most existing, inefficient plumbing fixtures with new, high-efficiency ‘low-flow’ fixtures that provide the same, or better, water pressure performance while using less water.
High-Efficiency Shower Heads and Sink Faucets
Higher-efficiency shower heads and faucets require less water thanks to new and improved technology. Many of the new faucets are also automated with sensors to ensure water shuts off by itself shortly after use. New fixtures are being installed in the following buildings:

High-Efficiency Toilets and Urinals
High-efficiency toilets and urinals increase the amount of water pressure in each flush and limit the amount water used by each flush, too. This amounts to a 40% drop in water consumption per flush – which adds up in our institutional buildings that have multiple washrooms. Sensors for automatic flushing are also being added to help minimize water consumption from each fixture.
